One of the great things about PC games (aside from the fact that they tend to support active modding communities) is that they’re often cheaper than their console counterparts. In fact, you can actually score some pretty awesome games on Amazon.com for $1 or less. NOTE: Prices don’t include shipping, they are in used condition. Here are some of our personal favorites…
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3
Anyone who owns a PC and considers themselves to be a gamer on that particular platform probably already has at least one simulator of “Sim” type of game in their library. For many it’s probably “Rollercoaster Tycoon 3”, a game which incorporates the ability to construct and run your own amusement park as well as ride the coasters you build in first-person mode. If that wasn’t enough, you can also view the park in 3D, from any angle you choose. It is loads of fun and perfect for “creative” types.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
Sure, it may require gamers to already have invested a lot of time and/or money in WoW (specifically – the full version of World of Warcraft, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and a Battle.net Account, just to play), but for hardcore devotees, “Cataclysm” is a must-buy at a steal of a price on Amazon.com. It actually increases your level cap to 85, adds two new playable races and even the ability to engage in archeological activities.
Mass Effect 2
If you have a thing for science fiction, RPG’s and/or satisfying gameplay in the third-person perspective, Mass Effect 2 will seem like a revelation to you. While it’s probably best to pick up the first game before tackling this one (which can also be had at a rather cheap price), many fans feel that the second game is in fact perhaps the strongest offering in the series. Seriously, by the end of this game you’ll feel as though you’ve personally embarked upon an intergalactic mission of epic proportions.
Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
As one of the best Star Wars-themed titles to be released onto PC’s, “Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast” remains popular in some circles, even to this day. Naturally, anyone who even remotely enjoys the films and considers themselves to be a devout PC gamer will love this game, but keep in mind – it can be rather challenging at times.
Assassin’s Creed 2
When most people think “Assassin’s Creed” the newest entry in the series, “ACIV: Black Flag” tends to spring to mind. Of course, it was the excellent “Assassin’s Creed 2” which helped to propel the series to its current level of success and popularity. It was this title, which introduced the ability to freely roam around the olden cities of ancient Italy (amidst conspiracy and puzzle solving mechanics) which truly ignited gamers’ imaginations. With the ability to approach each mission from multiple angles and plenty of side activities, this is a game that’s definitely more than worth its (current) rather paltry price tag.
