Mounts are probably the most popular collectibles in World of Warcraft. Many players run around the old raids in an attempt to get hold of some cool means of transportation. We present to your attention a list of the five most useful mounts in WoW.
Not all mounts are easy to obtain, so many players prefer to buy boosts here: https://skycoach.gg/wow-boost. With the help of this service, players can get mounts, order assistance in passing dungeons and raids, and pump heroes. This is a legal and safe way to make your game more enjoyable.
In this article, we will observe the evolution of mounts.
How it all began
Each race had its own mount, which required a separate riding skill. For example, dwarves needed to ride rams, and orcs needed to ride wolves. If desired, a character could buy a mount of another race, but for this, it was necessary to upgrade the reputation with the corresponding capital to exalted.
Classic mounts cost fabulous money. As a result, many players from the classics never bought an epic vehicle at the current time.
In patch 1.4, armored versions of mounts for level 60 appeared in the game (in fact, they are present in the game to this day). Until that moment, mounts for levels 40 and 60 differed from each other only in speed and color.
Today, unarmored versions of classic mounts with non-standard colors are practically never found in the game, because few people managed to get them then, and also because there was an NPC in the game for some time who exchanged unarmored mounts for armored ones, and players actively used this opportunity. So many of those who play WoW today are unaware of the existence of racial mounts with non-standard colors.
The Burning Crusade Mounts
Closer to the release of TBC, the developers introduced a lot of changes related to mounts to the game. First of all, they gave the players a secondary profession, horseback riding. This skill extended to mounts of all types and eliminated the need to learn to ride sheep, horses, and so on separately.
Of course, all these changes prepared players for the introduction of flying mounts, which happened in the first WoW expansion, Burning Crusade. These mounts could only fly in new locations.
It is worth noting here that in those days the speed of the mounts did not change dynamically. Each mount moved at a certain speed, and the speed did not increase even if the character learned a new level of riding skill. This applied not only to flying mounts but also to ground ones.
Also in Burning Crusade, for the first time, mounts appeared, which could be crafted using professions.
Wrath of the Lich King
The Wrath of the Lich King expansion introduces the first major flight restriction in new locations. The developers decided not to give players the opportunity to fly in the locations of Northrend immediately after the release of the add-on. Flying was available at level 77 and cost 1000 gold.
In the same expansion, the game introduced the ability to fly at a speed of 310%, but the point was that this skill could not be learned. Special mounts flew at this speed, which could be obtained in rated PvP or raids. It was then that the mounts in the game became what we know them now.
The mount call time has been halved – to one and a half seconds instead of three seconds. WotLK also introduced the first mount that could be purchased from the in-game store.
Cataclysm
In Cataclysm, the old Azeroth has changed radically, and flying has appeared in it – just like in Outland. Some locations were still considered a no-fly zone, but there were few of them, and therefore there were no restrictions on the mounts. Flight training in the old world was available at level 60, and this was the first and last time that the developers allowed players to fly in new content immediately after the release of the expansion.
Since Cataclysm, the speed of mounts has changed dynamically, depending on the character’s skill level. For the first time, a two-man mount appeared, which could be crafted using a profession.
Mists of Pandaria
In the Mists of Pandaria expansion, the attitude of the developers towards flying has not changed for the better. Players were able to fly in new locations only at the maximum level. Leveling in Pandaria is still very slow because learning to fly at level 85 is only possible with the help of a tome that is sold on the black market. Without a tome, everyone has to wait until level 90.
In the same expansion, mounts were made common to all characters on an account. After this change, vehicles from the Blizzard store lost all significant advantages over in-game vehicles.
Warlords of Draenor
In Warlords of Draenor, the developers have gone even further. At the beginning of the expansion, they said: “Maybe we won’t fly in Draenor?” To which all the players answered them: “Maybe you will?”
On the World of Warcraft forum, this question popped up literally on every topic. Many wanted to fly on Draenor – just like in previous expansions. In the end, Blizzard decided to add flying to Draenor and introduced the “Pathmaker” achievement to the game. And everyone liked it. The “Pathmaker” achievement was account-wide, including characters that had not yet been created. This saved the players from having to pay for flights for each character individually.
In Warlord of Draenor, players got the opportunity to use flying mounts as ground mounts, including in those locations where it was impossible to fly. There are also mounts for level 1 characters.
In summary
In the following additions of World of Warcraft, there were also many changes regarding mounts, however, we decided to talk about the most revolutionary ones that influenced a lot in the game. Thanks to this knowledge, you will know how the history of mounts developed and how they differed from what we see now.
The game offers a lot of exciting possibilities. Often they can be implemented through mounts. Collecting them is one of the favorite activities for users and fans of the project. Farming mounts is not an easy task. It may take a lot of effort to resolve this. Or you can use a boosting service and you will get the result much faster. However, the result is worth it.
